Prevention and Wellbeing

As many of you will be aware, Arun District Council is to be given delegated responsibility from West Sussex Public Health to deliver and commission a number of services around the Prevention and Wellbeing agenda, in agreed priority areas. The five priorities  agreed by the District Council and the Arun Wellbeing and Health Partnership are:

  1. Older people’s improved wellbeing and social inclusion
  2. Healthy mind and social inclusion
  3. Physical health, especially healthy weight
  4. Alcohol harm reduction
  5. Workplace health

Arun DC is planning to commission services under the first 4 prioirities, initially for one year from March/April 2012, which must be delivered across the Arun District, with particular focus on Local Neighbourhood Improvement Areas and Rural Areas. Work is underway to design the programmes that we are planning to commission, in consultation with Public Health. All programmes that we commission must be evidence-based, and in common with the requirements of this and majority of funders outcome-based monitoring and evaluation will be a requirement.

We attach a brief note of the outcomes and an outline of the seven programme areas that have been agreed with Public Health. At this stage we would welcome examples, in confidence, from partner organisations, of successful programmes that have been delivered locally to fulfil similar outcomes, that could be developed within the outline specified. If you are able to provide evidence of the success of these programmes that would be very helpful. We cannot guarantee to use all the suggestions submitted but will consider them all carefully.

If you would like to submit a response please reply by Tuesday 24th January 2012.
